I have been working with the local Colegio, or High School, Francisco Morazan in training a large group of students that are graduating in HIV-AIDS. These students must do volunteer work in order to graduate and their teachers select the service they will do. I volunteered to train all of the 200 students that are in different careers from computers to quality control. Since late February I started planning this activity and was able to get help from my counterpart World Vision. The local HIV facilitator, Zaida agreed to pay for the copies and gives us some supplies like markers and paper and some snacks during the “charlas.” The students have been great for the most part and like learning with dinamicas or games that I use. They will then use the information I have taught them and train other youth, that includes all the other students in the Colegio almost 1000 plus teachers. We hope that they can also train the 5th and 6th graders in the schools. The students will work in groups of 6 or 5 and will give and hour charla. This has not been easy, but I have had some help from Bryon for the condom demonstrations. It has been a great experience. I hope to finish the training late April and the students will give their charlas all of May and June.
