15th July, 2004 // France
Fête National

July 1st: Canada Day
July 4th: Independence Day
July 14th: Fête National

Well it seems as though July is the month in which to declare your Independence, for France Canada and the USA anyway. I Spent the Last Two days dodging fire crackers, spectating fireworks or "feu d'artifice", parading with torches, drinking french wine, eating french bread and cheese, playing petonk and soccer, and generaly having a great rollicking French time... except for the speaking part, Im still working on that.

I thought celebrating Canada day in the Parisian Canadian Embasssy was pretty cool, but this, Frances day of Liberty, Independence, and Nationalism takes the cake. I was surrounded by a somewhat impressive countryside crowd, as we marched down the street weilding burrning torches and flinging deafening fire crackers. I imagine it must have been a similar sight when France overthrew its monarchy; Angry, excited peasents weilding torches and wanting to see some explosions.

Anyway, I must be short, so ill leave by saying that I updated the photos in My photo Album. You can see them by clicking on Links, and then Nathans photo Album.

Also, I must say, I saw Michael Moores latest film the other day, 9/11. It was excellent. I really recomend it. Even if you are a hardhearted right winger. Hah.

Bisou
